EU CaviWipes is effective against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus responsible for COVID-19.
To disinfect severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) recommends the use of disinfectants that are effective against viruses.1 The European Union, along with other European nations, require disinfectants to have virucidal activity against enveloped viruses by demonstrating efficacy against Vaccinia Virus Ankara (MVA) according to EN 14476. 2,3.
CaviWipes is an EU registered medical device suitable for disinfection of non-invasive medical devices and has demonstrated efficacy against Vaccinia Virus Ankara (MVA) according to up-to-date European testing (EN 14476) and is therefore effective against enveloped viruses such as: SARS-CoV-2, HIV, HBV, HCV, etc 1. More specifically, we have shown CaviWipes is effective against SARS-CoV-1 according to an internationally recognized and USA-EPA approved method (ASTM E1053-11).
We are in the process of updating our product label to reflect the claims against Vaccinia Virus Ankara, and SARS-CoV-1.
